“The Australian Foundation for Disability – People Achieving Extraordinary Things”

The Australian Foundation for Disability (AFFORD) focuses on Respite Services that offers people with a disability interesting and positive experiences whilst their carer and/or family have a meaningful break from their caring responsibilities.

Particular attention is paid to the needs of the individual and the compatibility of people using this service, so that social, leisure and recreational opportunities can be maximised.

AFFORD Respite aims to:

 

• Support Families and Carers in their ongoing role and relationships.

 

• Provide the person with disability meaningful social recreational and developmental types of opportunities and community connections.

 

To be eligible for a respite service, carers must care for someone who:

• has a diagnosed disability
• is over eighteen (18) years of age

 

• is living full time with a non-paid carer

 

Priority will be given to Carers who are ageing.
