“The Australian Foundation for Disability – People Achieving Extraordinary Things” The Australian Foundation for Disability (AFFORD) Sensory Centre and Gardens is a state-of-the-art facility for AFFORD clients and for the commercial use of other disability organisations, school and community organisations.
Located at Canley Vale, it provides a sophisticated range of sensory stimulation to increase the awareness, coordination, reflexes and enjoyment of people with disability.
Participation is encouraged with ‘white’ and ‘black’ rooms providing cause and effect reactions, light and motion stimulation, and equipment for subtle physical manipulation. The Sensory Gardens also create a stimulus for the senses and encourage a feeling of relaxation and calmness. Bright colours, flowers of different textures, a fish pond, musical garden equipment and quiet areas add to the range of options available. The Sensory Centre and Gardens are accessible by external organisations for a low user fee.
