“The Australian Foundation for Disability – People Achieving Extraordinary Things”

The Australian Foundation for Disability (AFFORD) has short and long term accommodation available for people with a disability.  Dependent on support needs and individual preferences, residents live in supported village style or community suburban accommodation.

Cherrywood Village is set among native bushland at Llandilo, near Penrith.  Cherrywood Village provides motel style living with 24 hour support and security for 34 residents with a disability.

Community Living allows people with a disability to live in shared suburban housing.  Multi bed-roomed homes are professionally staffed to provide residents with support ranging from domestic skills to specialised care.  This includes overnight monitoring of clients to ensure their well-being.

The programme is a joint venture between the Australian Foundation for Disability and the NSW Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care (DADHC).   Residents are encouraged to live as independently as possible but at all time clients are supported with individual holistic care management to provide privacy, personal development and well-being.
